Lutheran house for aged men and women. A gift of Abraham and Johanna Maria Kromhuijsen. The building lot has been donated by the city of Amsterdam. Originally 300 people lived in the building. In the 19th century the function of orphanage was added. From 1974 on a nursing home, but probably not for much longer.
By the tower on the corner the building looks like a lighthouse.
