Reguliersgracht 92

Reguliersgracht 92

Reguliersgracht 92
Corner Prinsengracht
Private house with Dutch gable
Long litter house at the side wall
Year of construction: appr. 1675
Restoration: 1994 Gerard Prins Architect

The stork in the niche above the door may refer to the profession of a former resident of the house: midwife. Around 1900 the building was a pub. Perhaps the stork refers to Stokerij De Ooievaar (Stork Distillery) of A. van Wees (since 1883). Is the woman in the red coat looking for help for her pregnant daughter in the caravan? Or is she just buying a bottle of gin?
